Falling leaves bring with them falling temperatures which means you will need to trade in your summer hiking gear to keep yourself warm out on the trail. From adding a simple beanie to making sure your toes are nice and cozy, we have laid out the essential wardrobe changes you should consider before heading out to the trailhead. Check out the apparel that ColoradBros rock in the fall and plan your first trip to see the aspens change colors!
1. Beanie
When the leaves begin to change and the temperatures drop, you’ll want to make sure to conserve your body heat with a quality beanie. Keep your ears nice and toasty and accent your outdoor look with this Burton beanie. Dark clouds ahead? Add a waterproof shell to keep nice and dry.
2. Hydro Flask
Even though you may no longer be sweating out on the trails, you’ll want to make sure to stay hydrated. Popular amongst ‘vsco girls’, a Hydro Flask will keep your water cool through your hike or even for an overnight camping trip. Pick your favorite color and slap on some stickers for a testament to your personality and a water bottle cute enough to bring in to work. Let your inner ‘vsco’ girl run wild!
3. Warm Socks
Socks may not be the first thing your mind goes to for hiking gear, but keeping your toes warm will definitely make an impact on your fall adventures. Making sure your feet are nice and cozy in your hiking boots should be a priority and a good pair of wool socks is the perfect way to start. Boasting enhanced insulation and faster drying than cotton, these socks will keep your feet dry and warm even when its wet on the trail.
Grab a North Face fleece jacket to take with you on the trail! Made from ultra soft lightweight material, a fleece jacket is ideal when you don’t quite yet need your warmer down gear. Coming in a variety of colors and styles, you’ll be sure to find something to fit your style. The fleece shown below is classic and will keep you with stylin’ for many hikes to come.
5. Suggested Hikes to Put Your New Gear to the Test
For an easy day hike from Denver, follow the 2.9 mile First Flatiron trail in Boulder. Or for a bit more of a trek, journey to Vail to see the aspens as you make your way along the Upper Piney River Falls Trail. For a real challenge, rise early to cross two 14ers off your list and take in the fall colors from the summit of Grays and Torrey’s Peak!
See you on the trail!
